One Direction

First place in the NL West. We don't get to say that often, so let us repeat ourselves: As of this writing, the Arizona Diamondbacks are in first place in the NL West. Now, whether they can hold onto this position is another question entirely. The month of June should give us the answer -- of the first 15 games this month, 12 are away. And the three at home? They're against San Francisco, last year's World Series champs.

Said home series begins Friday, June 7, with fireworks, both of the literal airborne and figurative in-game varieties. You should go to the game, because the D-Backs are first place in the NL West. (Forgive us, we had to squeeze in one more.)

The first pitch goes out at 6:40 p.m. at Chase Field, 401 East Jefferson Street. Visit or call 602-462-6500 for tickets, $12 and up, and more.

Fri., June 7, 6:40 p.m.; Sat., June 8; Sun., June 9, 2013
