Out Come The Wolves

The last year or so has been quite the tossup for Valley sports fans. The Suns brought back ol' Horny to run next year's squad, and the Cardinals, also under new leadership, wrangled up quasi-legitimate quarterback Carson Palmer. The Yotes hanged their skates up after a disappointing season, and the Diamondbacks ditched their best player only to find themselves sitting atop their division. Oh yeah, and we got a soccer team.

Yup, with little fanfare, the Phoenix Wolves have embarked on their inaugural season as Phoenix's first official professional soccer team, and like most new teams they're, ahem, a work in progress. But hey, with all the uncertainty surrounding the major sports franchises of the Valley, there might be no better time to become a soccer fan.

The Wolves host the Antigua Barracuda on Saturday, July 6, at 7:30 pm at Tempe's Sun Devil Soccer Stadium, 500 East Veterans Way. Tickets start at $9. Visit for details.
