Great cities have great centrally located parks where music & cultural celebrations and people seeking to commune with nature get equal play. A new vision for the much overlooked Margaret T. Hance Park will roll out at enHANCE, the Hance Park Master Plan Community Celebration on Thursday, March 27.

While Hance Park covers more than 32 acres on the northern edge of downtown from Fifth Avenue to Third Street, the average Phoenician is likely to have no idea where it is. The new master plan promises more opportunities for engaging programming, purposefully distinct areas, and more prominent access points to the park, after nine months of work between community organizations and a multi-agency design team. Tilting toward the festive future they’re envisioning, there’ll be Phoenix Street Food Coalition food trucks, a beer and wine garden, and live music.

The community event will be held at Hance Park, 1134 North Central Avenue, from 5 to 8 p.m., with the unveiling of the master plan at 6:45. Admission is free. For more information, visit www.hanceparkconservancy.org.
