A photo's worth a thousand words. And we probably shouldn't have skipped math class. Because if we'd bothered to attend, let alone pay attention, then we probably could tell you just how many words the photobooks on view at Phoenix Art Museum are worth. Alas.
To tally up the total yourself, head to the museum's Norton Gallery and peruse the 151 self-published books that were chosen by a panel of seven industry professionals (including photography curator Becky Senf). The exhibition showcases a range of contemporary photobooks that include retrospectives, fictional narratives, and souvenir albums created by artist from around the world.
The photobooks remain on view through Sunday, September 28, at 1625 North Central Avenue. Hours on Thursday, September 18, are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Admission to the museum is $15 for adults. For more information, see www.phxart.org and www.infocus-phxart.org or call 602-257-1880.
First Sunday of every month, 12-5 p.m.; Thursdays-Saturdays, 10 a.m.-5 p.m.; Wednesdays, 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Starts: Aug. 3. Continues through Sept. 28, 2014
