Puck It Up

Mikko Koivu is the most iconic player in an American sports league that you’ve never heard of. The feisty Finn has been the cornerstone of the Minnesota Wild for just about the entirety of the franchise’s 10 year history. Last season, Koivu took his game to the next level by leading the Wild in assists and points en route to becoming the first permanent captain in team history.

When the Phoenix Coyotes host the Wild it’s a safe bet that the Desert Dogs will be looking to shut down Mikko Koivu. While the Wild have had an up-and-down year, they’ve been absolutely deadly on power-plays -- the Coyote’s Achilles’ heel -- thanks to Koivu’s efficient play.
