Remember the theater kids er, thespians in high school? Sure, they seemed cool at first. But after about 10 minutes of listening to them sing their lame Broadway songs in the halls and witnessing their overdone screaming fights during lunch hour, it was clear that these kids were unbearable to hang with. And if they happened to show at a house party, one of the theater chicks would inevitably turn into the drunk girl who cries, oversharing to anyone wholl listen about her shitty childhood. Exposure to these creatures was embarrassingly vulgar. Thats why we think Space 55 Theatre Ensemble's 10-Minute Play Showcase is so brilliant. The show features six plays written by local playwrights. At 10 minutes a pop, the stories are short, sweet, and cheap, with tickets priced at a measly $8. Its really the perfect way to take in the theater because, lets face it, 10 minutes is about all we can stand of these freaks -- er, thespians.
