It’s hard to sit through a 3-hour major motion picture saga in cookie-cutter theaters, especially if you have back problems or a short attention span. It would be much easier to weather a series of original short films, where you could leave for a bathroom break (or check your cell phone) without missing part of the storyline.

As luck would have it, the 6th annual ASU Student Film Festival promises just that. The fest features 10-minute shorts by some of the most promising students at ASU Herberger Institute School of Theater and Film. Audience members will also have the immediate satisfaction of voting for their favorite at the end of the showing. To give you an idea of what to expect, previous years’ winners have included Low Battery, about a mechanical toy that needs a jump start, and Conan: The Musical, a tongue-in-cheek look at what might happen if talk show host Conan O’Brien lost his comic timing.
