Each week Gem features one standout piece from a local shop. Whether it's a jacket, necklace, or handbag, it's on our have-to-have list.

What: These '70s roper-style boots are beautifully broken in and perfect footwear for the Southwestern trend we're seeing a lot of this season (think: dangling fringe, earthy prairie tones, and Native American-inspired patterns).

Ralph Lauren's all about it (we are hopelessly lusting after this cashmere blanket coat), with Proenza Schouler and Diane von Furstenburg also hopping on the Conestoga bandwagon.

Where: Tempe-based Etsy shop Kitten Paws Vintage

Cost: $48 (plus shipping)

Style these boots after the jump.

Style It: Play to the southwest trend with a little inspiration from model Arizona Muse's Vogue spread, "Manifest Destiny," from the mag's February 2011 issue. A wine-colored maxi skirt with an airy, feminine top give the rough and tumble boots a girly, but still strong, edge.

Top it off with a heavy cowboy hat and a fringe-rimmed purse to complete the adobe chic look.

Keep Phoenix New Times Free... Since we started Phoenix New Times, it has been defined as the free, independent voice of Phoenix, and we would like to keep it that way. Offering our readers free access to incisive coverage of local news, food and culture. Producing stories on everything from political scandals to the hottest new bands, with gutsy reporting, stylish writing, and staffers who've won everything from the Society of Professional Journalists' Sigma Delta Chi feature-writing award to the Casey Medal for Meritorious Journalism. But with local journalism's existence under siege and advertising revenue setbacks having a larger impact, it is important now more than ever for us to rally support behind funding our local journalism. You can help by participating in our "I Support" membership program, allowing us to keep covering Phoenix with no paywalls.
