Only in the good ol' U.S. of A can a holiday about family, food, and sharing be followed up with an insane, credit-card-fueled, post-turkey day consume-a-thon like "Black Friday." But even with that grim celebration of unbridled avarice behind us, we won't really be out of the woods 'til those church bells toll on Christmas Day. Or will we? You can sleep in, avoid the sale-o-rama drama, and pay a leisurely visit to the third annual Alwun House Gift & Collectible Art Sale. "We'll have ceramics, cards, one-of-a-kind prints, photographs, scarves, earrings . . . quite a potpourri," says Alwun's Kim Moody. The gallery parlor will be festooned with an eight-foot Christmas tree adorned with odds and ends, and there'll be artist demonstrations and confections a-plenty out back in Alwun's beautiful garden. So relax, sip some coffee, nosh, and shop for local creations that range from $15 to $99. Now that's our kind of shopping day.
Tuesdays-Fridays, 12-6 p.m. Starts: Nov. 30. Continues through Dec. 28, 2007
