Star Man

William Shatner is an intergalactic badass of the highest order. Despite all the flak that the iconic actor has gotten over his toupee and melodramatic acting style, The Shat is, quite simply, cooler than you’ll ever be.

As the legendary Captain James Tiberius Kirk, he’s bedded babes, fought Klingons, and saved the universe numerous times. As himself, however, the 81-year-old once felled a nine-foot grizzly bear with a bow-and-arrow, cut records with Henry Rollins, and made countless unforgettable cameos in films and on TV.

So don’t be surprised if few seats are available when he beams into this year’s Phoenix Comicon, which kicks off on Thursday, May 24, at the Phoenix Convention Center. Shatner will conduct an hour-long gabfest on Saturday afternoon followed by a meet-and-greet.

Plenty of non-Trek activities and guests are planned for the four-day geekfest, which celebrates comics, sci-fi, and anime. Highlights include the Bleeding Cool Fan Awards and the Doctor Who Timelord Party on Friday, a gigantic Geek Prom on Saturday, and countless nerd-oriented panels throughout the weekend.
