Swag It Out

We don't ask much of you, Phoenix Coyotes. It's neither the chance of catching a T-shirt shot from a cannon nor the guarantee of a bobblehead that keeps us coming back to the ice den to watch your games. We don't need stuff to feel appreciated. The only thing a sports team needs to do to show appreciation for its fans is win.

But you haven't been doing that lately. The month of March was particularly sad (5-10?) and April isn't shaping up to be much better. The way things are going, you probably won't even make the playoffs this year.

So yes, we'll attend your annual Fan Appreciation Night during your last home game of the regular season. We'll wave our free rally towels and think about where we'll hang up our free posters as you battle the Colorado Avalanche. And we'll hope that next year you'll show us your appreciation by bringing home the Stanley Cup.

KEEP PHOENIX NEW TIMES FREE... Since we started Phoenix New Times, it has been defined as the free, independent voice of Phoenix, and we'd like to keep it that way. With local media under siege, it's more important than ever for us to rally support behind funding our local journalism. You can help by participating in our "I Support" program, allowing us to keep offering readers access to our incisive coverage of local news, food and culture with no paywalls.
