Sweet Beats

Although DJ M2 may pay the bills with his weekday morning shift on Power 98.3, the talented turntablist has much more than Top 40 and hip-hop hits up his sleeve.

Just listen to his Nitty Gritty mixtape, where he splices smooth jazz samples with classic soul and banging hip-hop tracks, interspersing the proceedings with his kinetic and frenetic scratching. M2’s serious skills have won him more than just the accolades of loyal Power 98.3 listeners; the judges at this year’s Red Bull Thre3Style regionals crowned him the winner of the DJ competition.

M2’s varied, multi-genre approach is also one of the reasons why Groove Candy, his Thursday night party at Scottsdale’s Dirty Pretty, has become a destination for clubgoers seeking his signature blend of eclectic funk, neo-soul, reggae, and hip-hop.
