Each week Gem features one standout piece from a local shop. Whether
it's a jacket, necklace, or handbag, it's on our have-to-have list.

What: When Pantone announced that 2012's color of choice would be Tangerine Tango our thoughts immediately leapt to how we'd incorporate the bright, citrus tone into our wardrobes throughout the year.

Luckily, the reddish orange shade is easier to toss into an outfit than one color-shy individual might imagine.

With this fuzzy, tangerine skirt from vintage shop Blueberry Deluxe, the throwback shape of the pocketed and zippered mini transforms the maximalist orange into a minimalist statement.

Where: Blueberry Deluxe

Cost: $26

Style this Gem after the jump.

Style It:  Balance the mini with a Madewell long-sleeve crewneck sweater flecked with gold, punked up leopard print studded Jeffrey Campbell loafers, vintage Henry Dunay peachy natural tangerine moonstone and diamond earrings, and (just for fun) a sheepish keyfob from See by Chloe.

Keep Phoenix New Times Free... Since we started Phoenix New Times, it has been defined as the free, independent voice of Phoenix, and we would like to keep it that way. Offering our readers free access to incisive coverage of local news, food and culture. Producing stories on everything from political scandals to the hottest new bands, with gutsy reporting, stylish writing, and staffers who've won everything from the Society of Professional Journalists' Sigma Delta Chi feature-writing award to the Casey Medal for Meritorious Journalism. But with local journalism's existence under siege and advertising revenue setbacks having a larger impact, it is important now more than ever for us to rally support behind funding our local journalism.
