Tavern Trivia at 16th Street Sports Bar and Grill

Looking for something to do this week? "Night Owl" is a quick guide to special nights at bars and clubs around town. We'll give you a few hints re: cover, dress code, music and atmosphere. Fridays mark Tavern Trivia at 16th Street Sports Bar and Grill.

Get ready to finally put all of those countless hours spent watching television and cruising the internet to use at Tavern Trivia.

This Friday night trivia contest made its debut at 16th Street Sports Bar this week. Formerly Team Trivia, the new and improved Friday night event features pop culture trivia, whiskey drink specials, and the highest trivia cash prizes in Phoenix.

Check out a full slideshow here and our impressions after the jump...

The Place: 6522 N. 16th St., Phoenix, AZ 85016

The Time: 7 p.m.

The Cover: None.

The Parking: Parking in front and in rear.

What we didn't love: The amount of time given to answer questions, between 3 to 5 minutes, was way too long. This might have been an acceptable amount of time in the pre-smart phone era, but these days it makes the game a bit of a children's edition.

Are we going back? For the drinks, yes. For the trivia, maybe not.

Support the independent voice of Phoenix and help keep the future of New Times free.

Keep Phoenix New Times Free... Since we started Phoenix New Times, it has been defined as the free, independent voice of Phoenix, and we would like to keep it that way. Offering our readers free access to incisive coverage of local news, food and culture. Producing stories on everything from political scandals to the hottest new bands, with gutsy reporting, stylish writing, and staffers who've won everything from the Society of Professional Journalists' Sigma Delta Chi feature-writing award to the Casey Medal for Meritorious Journalism. But with local journalism's existence under siege and advertising revenue setbacks having a larger impact, it is important now more than ever for us to rally support behind funding our local journalism.
