Spring's around the corner, which means there's plenty of time to get creative (and finish a few projects) before the sun really comes out.

Lucky you, there happen to be a handful of great opportunities for local artists to have their work displayed, purchased, and recognized.

From design to public sculpture, here are three calls to creatives in Phoenix:

City of Tempe's opportunities for Arizona artists to beautify Tempe streets: Tempe's public art program is on the hunt for emerging artists to fill three opportunities to beautify University and Hardy drives. The streetscape projects include artwork for pavement enhancements, transit shelters, medians, and light poles, with the intention to "create a memorable, welcoming presence for pedestrians, bicyclists and motorists," and "promote neighborhood stability, sustainable business and development efforts while continuing Tempe's commitment to alternative modes of transportation." The project is also looking for an artist to design bicycle lane symbols that will be installed throughout the city.

Commissions for the art: Hardy Drive Streetscape - $24,000 University Drive Streetscape - $24,000 Design of Bicycle Lane Symbols - $2,500

Artists in all media are encouraged to apply. Deadline is 5 p.m. on Thursday, March 14. Project coordinators ask that materials are emailed as a single PDF to [email protected] for the bike lane symbols and [email protected] for the streetscape projects.
