Theres nowhere quite like the Southwest, or Phoenix, so where better than the PHX and its namesake art gallery (PHiX) for a two-day festival of transcultural performances exploring the desert and our place in it? The name of the fest is ¡Teatro Caliente!, and the sixth annual installment features art in multiple disciplines -- danced, performed, musical, and visual.
Phoenix-centric entries include "Wasteland Circus," an experimental performance piece by local art star Jeff Falk; a modern dance performance by our own Dulce Dance Company; and a screening of Phoenix video artist Barry Moon's latest film, Dubov. National acts include L.A.s Julie Adler and Sylvia Desroches, wholl perform an opera titled Nothing Is Broken, and the puppet-and-sound performance piece Rosalita's Dead Man by Austin's Brad McEntire and Ruth A. Engel.
