Vampire Weeknight

Bust out your capes and fangs. It’s vampire time, baby. No, we’re not talking about Halloween or some teenage goth event. We're speaking of the transformation every Phoenician goes through during the summer months. We avoid the sun, socialize in the evening hours, and sleep during the day whenever possible.

Lucky for us bloodsuckers, Desert Botanical Garden caters to our nocturnal needs with the Summer Flashlight Tour every Thursday and Saturday through August 30. Free with general admission, the tour encourages guests to poke around the desert for insects, nighthawks, tortoises, and night-blooming flowers.

Thursdays, Saturdays, 7-9 p.m. Starts: May 1. Continues through Aug. 30, 2008
KEEP PHOENIX NEW TIMES FREE... Since we started Phoenix New Times, it has been defined as the free, independent voice of Phoenix, and we'd like to keep it that way. With local media under siege, it's more important than ever for us to rally support behind funding our local journalism. You can help by participating in our "I Support" program, allowing us to keep offering readers access to our incisive coverage of local news, food and culture with no paywalls.
