What Women Want

Sure, girls want to have fun, but with all the ennui and Weltschmerz and stuff nowadays, we're more prone to be prone, or at best curled up in an idly spectating position. Get a little nudge from Girls Night: The Musical, an evening of fearless ordinary women belting out empowering numbers like "I Will Survive," "We Are Family," and, uh, "Lady Marmalade." (Well, that was one take-charge whore.)

It all started when Englishwoman Louise Roche realized she could create a show with appeal to women. Dad took the snappers while Roche drafted Girls Night at the kitchen table. In a Harry Potter meets The Full Monty kind of way, the play premièred in her neighborhood starring her friends and went on to capture the hearts of all Britain and, eventually, the world (the eternally touring show last played the Valley in 2007).

So pour some cocktails into your BFFs, hire a taxi, and descend upon Theater 4301 at Galleria Corporate Centre.

Tuesdays-Sundays. Starts: April 14. Continues through May 3, 2009
