A surgical nightmare becomes a terrifying reality, and so begins the fated tale of Hansel becoming Hedwig. The drag-centric rock musical Hedwig and the Angry Inch follows a band fronted by a transgender singer, leaving a trail of glitter and glam in its wake.

A decade ago, Arizona’s Artists Theatre Project put on their first play, a reproduction of the scandalizing and uproarious cult favorite. This weekend, original cast members Terre Steed, Tracy Payne Black, and Valley drag performer Pandora DeStrange reunite to pay homage to Hedwig in this music-only revival.

Doors open at 8 p.m. Sunday, September 7, at Crescent Ballroom, 308 North Second Avenue. Tickets are $10 in advance and $12 at the door. The show is 21-and-over only. Visit www.crescentphx.com or call 602-716-2222 for more.
