Singer Jeordie Safka has spent much of her musical career trying to step out from the shadow of her mothers musical legacy.
The daughter of Woodstock legend Melanie Safka, Jeordie was once criticized after a performance by Naomi Judd, who supposedly asked, are you sure you are from the same gene pool? In spite of Judds scathing criticism, Jeordie has carved out a nice niche on the Phoenix music scene.
Catch Jeordie Safka at the Zen Garden Music and Arts Festival at the Japanese Friendship Garden. The event will also feature music from nine other acts, including taiko drumming group Fushicho Daiko, flamenco masters the Sahnas Brothers, and Celtic-country fusion band Dream Chemistry. Asian-inspired ceramics, calligraphy, photography and other crafts will be on display in the 3.5 acre garden.
