Manuel's Mexican Restaurant Co-Founder Alice Salazar Passes Away at 76

After a two-year battle with cancer, Alice Salazar, co-founder of Manuel's Mexican Restaurants, passed away on Sunday. After a two-year battle with cancer, Alice Salazar, co-founder of Manuel's Mexican Restaurants, passed away on Sunday.

Alice and husband Manuel opened their first restaurant in 1964 on Indian School Road and 32nd Street, eventually adding six additional locations each run by a member of the family which includes 4 children, 21 grand children, and 11 great grand children.

Services for Alice will be open to the public. The rosary will be held from 5 to 6 p.m. and the viewing from 6 to 9 p.m., Sunday, December 4, at the Whitney and Murphy Funeral Home. Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m., Monday, December 5, at Saint Thomas The Apostle Catholic Parish. Floral arrangements may be sent to Whitney and Murphy Funeral Home.
