The actual Fourth of July holiday may have been on Wednesday, but as far as we're concerned, the celebration should continue through the entire weekend.
So we're extending our patriotic plans this weekend with a real Arizona burger, a couple of historic American cocktails, and a batch of sinfully good pancakes.
Check out what's on our plate.

Eat This: Bacon Cheeseburger from The Chuckbox -- This Tempe institution celebrated its 40th birthday last month, and after all this time, it's still one of our favorite spots in town to satisfy our burger craving. A thick mesquite-charbroiled patty of juicy ground beef is topped with crispy burger-shaped bacon, sharp cheddar cheese, and fresh lettuce and tomato. Add a side of fried-to-perfection Chuck Box potatoes and you've got yourself the perfect Arizona burger meal. Delicious!
Drink This: Handcrafted Cocktails at BLT Steak -- Get out of the heat and into the Camelback Inn's beautiful BLT Steak for a classic cocktail. BLT's bartenders whip up some amazing pre-Prohibition-style drinks that are the perfect toast to American history. Try the 1918-era Violet French 75 with Hendrick's gin and Crème de Violet or the 1862-style Tequila Bramble with lemon and blackberries. Cheers!
Bake This: Lemon Ricotta Pancakes with Blueberry Sauce -- This weekend, we're waking up early and whipping up a batch of these get-out-of-bed-worthy pancakes topped with homemade blueberry sauce. The thick pancakes are bursting with lemon flavor and a generous helping of ricotta cheese make the cakes light and fluffy. The sweet blueberry sauce complements the bright pancakes and will have everyone asking for seconds.
