Since the announcement of its arrival, hop heads all over Downtown have been sweating out the summer in anticipation of the opening of Angels Trumpet Ale House, the suds-focused bar and restaurant from Mat and Sharry Englehorn.
And now that the menu's ready (house made seasonal "Pop Tarts" anyone?), we're ready for the bites as well as the beer.
Located at 810 North Second Street (just south of Roosevelt and across the street from FilmBar), Angels Trumpet will offer 31 frequently rotated craft brews on tap, sweet digs including a 3,000-square-foot patio, and eclectic eats from chef Xane Brody.
Brody's beer-friendly lunch and dinner menu will include snacks such as crispy Spam sliders and sweet potato tacos, salads, pizza and burgers, sandwiches (including a creation called "Nutter" made with peanut butter grilled on sourdough, raspberry chipotle preserve, house marshmallow fluff, and peppered bacon), entrees such as smoked chicken legs and lamb pastrami on Texas toast, and desserts like house made seasonal "Pop Tarts" topped with vanilla glaze.
Angels Trumpet House's official grand opening date is Saturday, September 15, but the Englehorn's plan to soft open before then -- perhaps even as early as this week -- and will offer brunch two weeks following the grand opening.
