Tuck Shop
You'll always find comfort food and one of the Valley's most famous gin and tonics at Tuck Shop in central Phoenix. And the restaurant recently introduced its new winter menu with tasty dishes including Catfish and Crawfish, Pine AZ Spiced Steak and Salmon and Shrimp Cakes. Chef and owner DJ Fernandez has also made a change to the restaurant's ever-popular mac and cheese, serving the dish with house-cured bacon instead of prosciutto. The restaurant is open from 5 to 10 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday. You can view the complete new menu here.
The Mix Up Bar
Looking for a new happy hour to try this week? Try heading to The Mix Up Bar at the Royal Palms Resort for Mix and Mingle, a daily promotion at the newly renovated bar. Mix and Mingle deals include a $5 menu with select craft cocktails, wines by the glass, draft beers and food. Diners and drinkers can look forward to an ever-changing "daily tastes" menu that includes seasonal items. Each of chef Paul McCabe's dishes is designed to pair with the craft cocktails -- and anything is sure to taste better with the resort as a picturesque background. Mix and Mingle takes places from 4 to 7 p.m. daily.
Taco Guild
In May we announced that the Scottsdale-based chain Z'Tejas Southwestern Grill would be opening a new restaurant in a former 19th-century worship and education center at the northwest corner of Seventh Street and Osborn Road. The Taco Guild, now open, serves "Old World" and "New School" tacos as well as salads, sides and an option to build-your-own burrito. There's also a selection of top-quality tequilas and craft beer. The restaurant also offers happy hour from 3 to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday.
T. Spot
If you're really trying to get into the rainy season then it's a perfect time to head to T. Spot, the new ramen shop and Asian tea house inside chef Johnny Chu's Tien Wong restaurant. T. Spot serves three flavors of ramen: traditional, miso, and spicy chile. And he offers four types of Japanese hand-cut noodles, all of which are custom-made for the restaurant in Los Angeles. The best part might be that sidling up to a warm bowl of ramen will only set you back $6.95. Both T.Spot and Tien Wong are open from noon to 9:30 Tuesday through Thursday and Sunday, and from noon to 11 p.m. on Friday and Saturday.
