Pet food maker My Perfect Pet has recently partnered with several Valley restaurants to start distributing restaurant appropriate dog food through a program called Dine With Your Dog. The promise is that you can eat your meal in peace while your canine comrade chows down on his own meal alongside you.
Generally there's a problem with restaurants serving regular dog food as most dog food is not rated for human consumption. That means restaurants that stock it could violate health codes if they do something as simple as store it alongside their regular food.
My Perfect Pet's food gets around this by being made from human safe ingredients prepared in health code abiding professional kitchens. The result is a high-class dog food that can be stored in a commercial kitchen without causing a health inspector to have an aneurysm.
We talked with reps from both Dine With Your Dog and My Perfect Pet and they told us a little more about their product and the Dine With Your Dog program in general.
Now the most important part is the food of course. The simplest description they could offer is that their product is basically a dog friendly meat loaf. Each loaf weighs about 8 ounces and Dine With Your Dog is currently offering it in one of two flavors. The first is called "Boomer's Blend" and is a mix of chicken thighs, beef brisket, brown rice and various vegetables. The second is the "Hunter's Blend" which they recommend for picky eaters because it's grain free and features salmon blended with chicken.
Thankfully, the food actually sounds like it's pretty good for your dog. My Perfect Pet's food has received a 5 star rating from the popular pet food review webpage Dog Food Advisor. Dog Food Advisor says the food is, "Enthusiastically recommended," based on the quality of the ingredients, nutritional content and lack of preservatives.
That said, Dine With Your Dog in San Diego counts more than 40 locations as clients so it's possible that doggy meat loaf will be on the menu at more Valley establishments soon.
