Happy Cinco de Drinko weekend!

Tomorrow is Cinco de Mayo and Kentucky Derby Day, which means Phoenix is going to be partyin'. So, not matter where you end up or what you're celebrating, eat well and drive safe!

Here's what's on my plate for this weekend . . .

Eat This: BBQ at the Blues, Bruises, and BBQ Festival at Fear Farm -- The what? That's exactly what I said when one of my fellow Chow Bella bloggers told me about this event -- then I looked it up and was shocked totally intrigued by the idea a blues music festival combined with MMA style fighting and a beer and BBQ festival. What a shitshow super fun time this will be! A full Saturday of listening to the sweet sounds of live music and DJ's while savoring smokey meaty tastes from over 40 of Phoenix's best barbecue joints and knocking back a couple colds ones. Then, when everyone is full and drunk, we all get to watch a few gnarly buff dudes in colorful shorts fight it out in an MMA competition. Whoever thought of this is a GENIUS and we can't wait to get our grub on tomorrow. Ticket prices vary. Click here for all the details.

Drink This: Mint julep from Mabel's on Main -- make your reservations and celebrate the ponies this weekend at our favorite classic cocktail spot, Mabel's on Main. The classic Southern concoction of sweet bourbon, muddled mint, and crushed ice, known as the mint julep, is the standard Derby Day treat and is executed with precision and charm by the folks behind Mabel's bar. Cheer!

Bake Make This: Vietnamese Coffee Ice Cream -- Yeah, yeah it's not Cinco de Mayo-ish at all and it has nothing to do with the Kentucky Derby and you don't have to bake it exactly, but if you have an ice cream maker, you should give this unique cold treat a spin. How can you go wrong with rich coffee ice cream mixed with cream and condensed milk?
