Those who've been eating in the Valley for the last decade or so will likely be familiar with chef Johnny Chu. Since 1998 he's opened (and closed) a collection of Asian and Asian fusion restaurants in Downtown Phoenix, Chandler, Tempe, and beyond.

Chu's most recent restaurant arrived on the scene earlier this year in the form of RedThai, a pan-Asian restaurant that offers a menu with a smattering of Thai cuisine favorites. Like Sochu House and Sens in the past, it's a sleek space with modern design and a sultry style.

Our favorite from the menu is the Thai Noodle Soup, a spicy dish made with a light lemongrass broth. Clear rice noodles are interspersed with sliced rib eye, noodles, onions, garlic, scallions, and cilantro to provide a filling and flavor-packed lunch that won't break your budget. The heat is just enough to keep your interest as you slurp down every last noodle -- without leaving you in pain by the time you're done.
