We'll always remember April as the month we said adios to every single Baja Fresh in the Valley. But at least we welcomed quite a few new friends to ease the pain.

Opened:

  • Ahi Revolving Sushi in Gilbert

"Opened on April 5 at 940 South Gilbert Road, Ahi Revolving Sushi serves up plastic-topped, conveyor belt fare as well as the option to special order what you don't see passing by from a server."

  • Mr. Pizza in Mesa

"Mr. Pizza, a locally owned shop on 2706 East University Drive, opened at the beginning of April. It makes its own dough. It makes its own sauce. And if you're a Mesa-ite who's looking to have your pie brought right to the front door, Mr. Pizza delivers within a three-mile radius."

And if you want to see the menu, we've got that too.

  • Tempe's Front Porch in Tempe

"Featuring seating for 130, three fire pits, a bar, food, and a backdrop of Tempe Beach Park and Tempe Town Lake, the new patio, called Tempe's Front Porch, is located at 100 South Mill Avenue."

  • C.A.S.A. in Tempe

We checked out the spot with mac n' cheese burritos and playful Mexi-fusion fare

  • Rito's Mexican Food in Surprise
  • Z'Tejas Southwestern Grill (southwest corner of 16th Street and Bethany Home Road)
  • Game Seven Grill at Chase Field in Phoenix
  • Salut Kitchen Bar in Tempe
  • Gluttons in Tempe

Closed:

  • Brix Wine Spot in Cave Creek

"After five years of ownership, husband-and-wife team Brian and Nancy Frank are closing their little wine shop in Stagecoach Village to start what they're calling a new chapter in their lives. Notably, another iteration of Brix."

But don't worry, they'll be back...

  • Baja Fresh (all locations)

"Finish off that Burrito Ultimo® and take one long, last look at that salsa bar, folks. Baja Fresh is closing up shop in the Valley."

It's a trek, but you can still get your Baja-fix on at other locations in Arizona

  • Cave & Ives Portico Grill in Arcadia

"Italian- and Mediterranean-inspired dishes served up in a cozy, second-story neighborhood bistro in Arcadia will be no more following tonight's service: Cave & Ives Portico Grill is shuttering."

They almost made it through, but announced the news on the last day of the month:

  • Buster's on the Lake in Scottsdale
  • J. Alexander's in Scottsdale
  • The Breakfast Joynt in Scottsdale
  • Mike's Kitchen & BBQ
  • La Piccola Cucina in Phoenix
