One new idea for every day in 2011. We're talking big, small, local, international, in action and on the drawing board. Here's today's -- what's yours?

In 2010, Rob Gorski found an ad on Craigslist for a small, forested island in a large body of freshwater somewhere off the midwestern coast of the U.S..

He bought it, and almost two years later, he's looking to give it away.

With the help of the local nature conservancy and creative community, Gorski envisioned an artist residency on the 90-acre island, which would include visual artists, writers, designers, architects, farmers and creative researchers, willing to go off the grid and into the wild.

Rabbit Island represents a chance to creatively explore ideas related to the absence of civilization in a well-preserved microcosm," he writes. "It's an experiment, a laboratory. It is isolated from all centralized forms of transportation, energy production, food industry, and, the world of art."

The future artist in residence will benefit from the work of Andrew Ranville, a UK-based installation artist who is currently building a very small cabin, which will serve as a place of study and creation for following artists and future generations.

See more about Rabbit Island (and apply for the residency) on the official website and donate to the cause on Kickstarter.
