A few weeks ago, a group of anonymous artists in the United Kingdom met in a darkroom to make the second batch of photographs for their experiment, This Was Found.
Recently in the UK people have gone out and obtained the assets of today's society, namely: plasma screen TVs, mobile phones and trainers, all for free, through the medium of looting," the artists write on their website. "Partly inspired by this, the This Was Found foundation was set up to create and distribute free photographic art to the masses, thus bringing a spot of unique creativity to the streets."
A week later, they placed their photographs on the streets and up for grabs.
The artists gather on a regular basis to make, develop, mount, and frame their works before placing them in public spots that lack artwork around the city.
They write that they hope the works, which will eventually include artwork of a variety of media, are picked up by members of the community, who can leave a note on the group's blog about the print they've found.
