Since there's really no better accessory than a cocktail in your hand, each week brings you a tasty adult beverage from one of our favorite drinking establishments, complete with recipe. This week: The Basil Gimlet at The Duce

Downtown Phoenix warehouse turned retro bar/store/boxing ring/restaurant concept, The Duce, is the kind of establishment that instills faith that Phoenix is one happenin' place. The innovative restaurant experience is meant to be a throw back to the good ol' days (think: Rat Pack, Sinatra, speak easy/ jazz club).

Their in-house boxing ring and policy that everyone (including bar flies) must have a nickname, are just a few things that make this bar experience truly one of a kind. And of course, with every great bar experience must come a great cocktail experience. The secret here is, well, pretty straightforward; High quality ingredients make for high quality cocktails (and yes, the cool factor of the mason jar doesn't hurt either).

The fizzy and refreshing taste of The Basil Gimlet literally prompted us to second guess the ingredients our bartender "Frankie" gave us. No club soda? Really? Not at The Duce.

(Recipe after the jump.)

Ingredients:

2 oz. Veev Acai Spirit
1 oz. fresh squeezed lime juice
1/2 oz. house made agave nectar
6 organic basil leaves

In a shaker combine ice, lime juice, agave nectar, Acai Spirit and 5 pieces of freshly torn basil leaves. Shake contents like a Chi-town mobster to create a blending effect that'll blow your mind. Pour result into a ball jar and garnish with one pretty basil leave to add some 40s glamor to a "no bullshit" cocktail. You got a problem? Didn't think so.
