When Phoenix artist Julie Hampton closed the doors to a.ware studio and store on Central Avenue in March, we crossed our fingers for a reincarnation -- and soon.

Lucky us, and you, an a.ware future is definitely in the works, according to Hampton, who says that this fall she'll team up with Nancy Hill at Hazel & Violet to offer four letterpress workshops and, yes, a sale.

For four Saturdays, including September 29, October 20, November 10, December 8, the two will teach a small group of attendees how to make stationery, thank you and holiday cards, and coasters with a number of letter press machines at Hazel & Violet Letterpress Space & Gallery, 724 N. 4th Street in downtown Phoenix.

From 1 to 4 p.m., the two will walk the class through the basics of letterpress. All four classes are available for $200, or on an individual basis.

Hampton will also set up shop at Hazel on the First Friday of October from 5 to 10 p.m., and on October 6 and 7 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., where she'll host a sale of a.ware goods at 50 to 75 percent off. Hampton says items include locally made Emelmahae soaps and baby products, Danmala cards, Flight path belt buckles, letterpress poetry prints from Kore Press, felted soaps, and art supplies (to name a few).

For more information about the letterpress classes and to reserve a spot (space is very limited), contact Nancy Hill at nancy@hazelandvioletink.com.
