Fourth of July Nightlife in Scottsdale and Tempe Downtown Tempe and Old Town Scottsdale's numerous bars and clubs were swarming with co-eds dressed in red, white, and blue ensembles and celebrating Independence Day after the sun went down and the fireworks ceased on Thursday, July 4. Up in Scottsdale, they crowded into joints like Hi Fi, Martini Ranch, Smashboxx, and Shotgun Betty's, as well as the second floor WET Deck at the W Scottsdale Hotel.

Down on Mill Avenue, however, the sidewalks along the thoroughfare were full of people after Tempe Beach Park's big bash let out, as were such establishments as Gringo Star Street Bar, Mill Avenue Cue Club, C.A.S.A., and World of Beer as folks enjoyed drinks and beats while raising a toast to 'Murica.
First Friday in Downtown Phoenix, 7/5/13 The galleries and venues of Roosevelt Row, Grand Avenue, and other locations throughout Downtown Phoenix's art scene were alive with activity on Friday, July 5, for the latest First Friday monthly art walk. As per usual, there was much to see, like the painted skateboards at Phoenix Art Spaces, new exhibitions at eye lounge and Modified, flash art at Golden Rule Tattoo, or all the interesting-looking people and the occasional cosplayer strolling down the sidewalk (including Tonto and the Lone Ranger). Also, our travels took us through to popular coffee spot Jobot to check out its new look and through the Phoenix Art Museum for "The Art of Video Games" exhibition.
