They say breakfast is the most important meal of the day, and who says our brains don't need morning fodder just as much as our stomachs?
In our 365 Creative Ideas feature, we mentioned Creative Mornings, a monthly lecture series. The free, 20-minute talks cover a variety of creative subjects and include complimentary breakfast.
A year ago, they were in just four cities, but local designers are getting ready to open a chapter (one of over two dozen new chapters across seven continents) in Phoenix. And they already have the first event in the books: a talk next month from Vice President and Creative Director at Moses Anshell, Jason Smith.
Leading and organizing Creative Mornings PHX is artist and designer Jess Trounce. Although she says the events are certainly open to the public, they will also be geared toward the arts and design communities.
"No one really thinks of Phoenix as a good design community," says Trounce. "But in fact, there is a huge design community here. The rest of the world doesn't know that - a lot of the people here in Phoenix don't even know that.
The first Creative Mornings PHX event will take place as a part of Phoenix Design Week, September 24 through 30. On Friday, September 28, Jason Smith will speak in the Phoenix chapter's inaugural event. Trounce says she's currently working out the details and reaching out to local sponsors. The event will be free, but the location and specific time are TBA.
The events will start small, but Trounce says she aims to draw crowds between 50 to 300 people in the future and include topics like architecture in future Creative Mornings.
For updates on details about the event and all upcoming events, see the Creative Mornings PHX Facebook and Twitter pages. You can view all of the past Creative Mornings talks from each chapter at the Creative Mornings website.
