In a special editorial titled "Style Across America," the men's magazine traveled around the country to showcase the 22 men who are redefining fashion.
Arizona was featured twice on the list, first with Flagstaff-based astronomer Gerard Van Belle, and again with Phoenix's own Quincy Ross.

Esquire reached out to Ross back in May, announcing that, unbeknownst to him, he had been selected as a trendsetter in the upcoming fall feature. Last month Ross met with Esquire for a photo shoot at the modern North Scottsdale home of Treg Bradley. The home, which was designed by architect and friend Michael P. Johnson, offers a mountainous desert landscape that serves as the backdrop for Ross's Esquire photo.
As a "man about town" Ross was asked to list the numerous places he likes to frequent around the Valley, including IceHouse, Hub, Lisa Sette Gallery, Monorchid, and GreenHaus to name a few. This information, however, was ultimately cut as the magazine chose to focus more on Ross' nationally recognized accomplishments, as he's had photographs exhibited in both the New York and Bilbao Guggenheim.
We asked Ross if he was surprised to be nominated in Esquire's Style Across America and he admits that he was not. Ross, who doesn't credit anyone as his style inspiration, has spent years working in close collaboration with the fashion industry, even serving as a consultant to American Apparel headquarters in Los Angeles in 2003.
When it comes to wardrobe, Ross has three pieces of advice he thinks everyone should follow:
1. Always look your best when traveling by airplane 2. Always pack a towel and swimsuit 3. No white tube socks and there is never an excuse to wear socks and flip flops
