Update: The deadline for poster submissions has been extended until September 17 at 11:59 p.m..

The fourth annual Phoenix Design Week kicks off September 24, allowing local designers the opportunity to gather, attend workshops and lectures, and showcase their skills in one of the visual exhibitions of the week-long event: the poster show.

Those interested in submitting a poster relating to this year's theme "Here & Now" can find information as well as a poster template at PHXDW's website. One poster will be chosen by popular online vote as this year's winner.

The "Here & Now" theme for this year's PHXDW is intended to bring focus back to the large pool of talent that exists in Phoenix, according to co-founder Mark Dudlik.

"After last year, we strayed a bit from our original mission," says Dudlik. "Because there was this national conference in town, we focused on being good hosts to the out of town visitors, showing off our great city, our great design."

"This year, we're trying to bring things back, focus on what it means to be a designer in Phoenix and what it means to be part of this community and part of such a huge center of potential and talent."

A collection of posters will be chosen and printed by AZ Pro and displayed during PHXDW, which will be held in different parts of Phoenix while the conference will take place at Phoenix Convention Center.

Check out PHXDW's website for more poster details, last year's "Perception" poster submissions, and stay tuned for exhibitions and lectures we're excited to see, as well as film and event coverage during design week.
