Zach Mills might be the only man in Phoenix who has ever successfully pulled off a bowl cut.

In fact, he may be the only one who has ever tried. That's because the 24-year-old Las Vegas native has a fearless attitude when it comes to fashion, and a priceless intuition about which trends will last and which ones aren't worth a damn. (The bowl cut look, however, didn't last for more than a few months.) More impressively, he has a knack for taking high-fashion runway ideas and translating them to wearable, everyday looks. Bottom line: If you're bold enough to try it, Mills is going to show you how to make it work.

This mantra is clearly reflected in Mills' day-to-day style. He pairs classic patterns with textured layers and throws in a few unexpected hues for good measure. The result is a fun, functional look that seems to reflect only the best that year's fashion has to offer. The style adviser and enthusiast's talents don't end there though. He has performed plays in German, covered his body in paint in front of a large audience, and coaches the Arizona State University speech team.

Mills works at Banana Republic in Scottsdale Fashion Square, where he recently helped style a seasonal fashion show. He spends his free time having adventures all over Scottsdale and Tempe.

What are you wearing right now? A Banana Republic crewneck, a plaid utility shirt from Zara, a Banana Republic cardigan, H&M jeans, Gap socks, and Vans that I bought at Urban Outfitters

What's the last item of clothing you bought? A cat sweater

Where do you usually shop? Banana Republic, Gap, Aldo, H&M, Urban Outfitters, and sometimes American Apparel

Name five items every man should have in his closet. Here's a list no matter what your gender: 1) You need a good pair of trousers. They don't have to be black. Try neutral! Whatever suits your fancy. 2) A cardigan 3) A plain basic crewneck - go for a heathered texture if you're feeling crazy. 4) A solid, structured blazer or jacket 5) Something that makes you smile - what's the point of getting dressed if you're not having fun with it?

What's one fashion trend you can't stand? I don't want to insult anyone's identity or who they are, but I can't stand tights worn as pants. I think it's lazy, but if that's what you want to do, mazel tov.

Give us a childhood memory of you and clothes. In third grade, I got these two heinous reversible vests. One was black suede and denim, and the other was green suede and had a horse print. I thought I was so cool! To be fair, I was ahead of my time. That look is definitely something Macklemore would wear today.

What is your one piece of fashion advice for Phoenix? It is really tempting to leave the house in a tank top and booty shorts, but you should always present yourself how you want to be seen. Make conscious choices.
