Roosevelt Row staple gallery Eye Lounge turns 15 this year. And to celebrate, owners Cindy Dach and Greg Esser are changing things up.
Soon the collective art space, which currently can house three art exhibitions at a time, will welcome photographer, educator, and ASU alum Stephen Gittins' business, Capture 12, to the western bay of its building. Capture 12 is an arts education venue with a focus on photography skills.
"We're very excited to have Capture 12 join the space," Esser says in a news release issued Monday, may 12. "Capture 12's classes, workshops and exhibitions will add even more street level activation to this storefront on Roosevelt Street. This area has a strong history of supporting photographers, and this neighborhood, with its murals and authentic 'funky' building fabric, has become one of the most photographed areas of Phoenix."
Capture 12 is set to open at Eye Lounge in June 2014.

According to the release, this new configuration of Eye Lounge's space will better reflect the building's original purpose, with two separate storefronts on Roosevelt and an adjoining bungalow that's home to Made Art Boutique.
Plans are also underway to create new artist venues at the lot to the west of Eye Lounge, per the release.
Events and a publication are in store to further celebrate Eye Lounge's 15th anniversary. Visit www.eyelounge.com for updates.
