Looking for something to do this weekend? "Night Owl" is a quick guide to special nights at bars and clubs around town. We'll give you a few hints re: cover, dress code, music and atmosphere. Every Saturday marks Super Saturdays at The Garage Public House.
The Garage Public House
aims to satisfy the average Ahwatukee automobile addict's appetite. And while there's nothing too super about Saturdays at Garage Public House,
the Super Saturdays
specials are a good excuse to check out a few happy hour deals.
The Place: 4855 E. Warner Rd, Ahwatukee, AZ 85044
The Time: Every Saturday until 8 p.m.
The Cover: Zero.
The Parking: Lot.
The Style: There was a bit of a black eye on the evening. Everyone we saw was wearing either black, blue or both.
The People: A modest and mostly middle-aged crowd surrounded the bartop while most of the booths along the perimeter remained empty. There were a few youngsters mixed in too.
What we loved: The garage/gas station doubled as a moonshine manufacturer in the 20s. The bathroom wallpaper is comprised of moonshiner mugshots and other old timey photos.
What we didn't love: A working garage door is a cool idea, but can be a bit too cool when it's left up on a December evening. More than one guest complained about how cold it was before the bartender took care of it.
Are we going back? Perhaps, but there's no reason to make it next Saturday.
