Warren Miller's Ticket to Ride comes to the Valley this month December to help celebrate the much anticipated winter months. The legendary film series takes world-class athletes from around the globe to different snowy destinations where the athletes can ski, snowboard, show off their talents, and enjoy the scenery of such winter wonderlands as Alaska, Switzerland, and Kazakhstan.

These first-rate athletes come from around the world to participate in the filming of Ticket to Ride. Some of the athletes in this year's 64th annual film include freeskiers Colby James West and Sean Pettit, ski mountaineer Chris Davenport, and Olympians Seth Wescott, Ted Ligety, and Julia Mancuso.

The film is broken into 10 segments by location. Athletes can be seen skiing in Alaska at Valdez and the Tordrillo Mountains, as well as in Switzerland, Iceland, Greenland, Montana, Kazakhstan, Norway, and Aspen.

In the Aspen segment, Gretchen Bleiler asserts her athleticism amid a group of seven men. She tears up the mountainside, proving that "girls can look like girls and still rip," according to a press release form Warren Miller Entertainment.

In the Iceland segment that follows the Aspen scenes, the same sentiment is expressed when a group of women explore the terrain together.

Warren Miller's Ticket to Ride plays at Orpheum Theatre on December 10, the Scottsdale Center for the Performing Arts on December 11, and Gammage Auditorium on ASU's Tempe campus on December 13. All shows begin at 8 p.m.

Tickets can be purchased from REI stores in Tempe and Paradise Valley, and online from separate locations for each venue. Ticket prices vary depending on place of purchase. For more information on tickets and prices, visit the website.

Along with entry into the film screening, ticket holders will receive a voucher for one free lift ride at Arizona Snowbowl, a voucher for three free days of skiing when staying at any Crested Butte Mountain Resort, and a coupon for 20 percent off certain snow gear at REI.
