Michael Soto of AZ Citizens for the arts writes, "Joseph's work, whether in murals or canvas, shines. His work is real, it is the story of neighborhoods, Phoenix, himself. His use of color is new like the city, unique and alive. His play on words that he commonly uses in his work, give a narrative to the paintings, small clues to the stories he is telling with a brush."
