Sacha Baron Cohen's newest film The Dictator, set to hit theaters on May 16, brought its mildly offensive but pretty damn funny "Wadiyan" bus to Arizona State University on Thursday.
Although Cohen, a.k.a. His Excellency Admiral General Shabazz Aladeen, didn't make a personal appearance, his "virgin guards" and crew of Wadiyan women shared the interactive bus with good-humored passers by.
The college bus tour, which kicked off on May 1 at UCLA, will be making 11 total stops at college campuses as far east as University of Arkansas.
After receiving a pat-down from one of the guards (yeah, all the guys were really upset about that one), visitors could board the Dictator's personal bus for an interactive Wadiyan experience.
The "golded-out" bus housed a bounty of the Dictator's portraits as well as iPads, on which visitors could try out the Dictator app.Virgin guards offered visitors a taste of the Wadiyan delicacy, camel toe pate (which you might recognize as hummus). And in the back of the bus, a golden urn with a portrait of the late dictator of North Korea, Kim Jong-Il.
Outside the bus, a photo booth allowed people to take photos to be sent as postcards from Wadiya. Wadiyan money and tourist pamphlets provided a laugh with humor consistent with the style of Cohen's past films, Borat and Bruno.
"Museum of Wadiyan Political History: changed everyday!" the pamphlet read. Other featured tourist attractions include the Sandland Theme Park and National Museum of Sand ("Not a killing field. Definitely not a mass grave.") and the Wax Museum of Famous Actresses, Models and Weather Girls.
After leaving Arizona State University, the bus tour heads to University of Arizona before heading to Texas, Arkansas, Oklahoma, and Kansas.
