Hello, weekend. We promise not to waste you. Here's how.

Picasso at the Lapin Agile @ Brelby Studio For those of us who delight in the absurd, there is never enough Steve Martin to go around -- no matter how many bluegrass records and TV cameos he makes, or the number of chuckle-inducing tweets he drops into our feed (with the handle @SteveMartinToGo, at that).

Because of this ongoing shortage and the fact that we are willing to generously share our slices of Steve, we think you should know that Brelby Theatre Company is producing Martin's 1996 Off-Broadway work Picasso at the Lapin Agile.

The play re-imagines history, bringing together Pablo Picasso and Albert Einstein, before either has encountered mega-fame for Cubism and the theory of relativity, respectively, at a Parisian cafe in 1904. The two chat in the company of an inventor and a bartender, among many others. And because Steve Martin worte it, a time-traveling, hip-swiveler of an icon also makes an appearance (we don't wanna spoil it!).

See it at 7:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday at Brelby Studio. Tickets are $20.

SoundScape @ Venue Scottsdale R.E.I.G.N. Artist Network presents an evening of fashion, art, and music dubbed SoundScape. Eight designers will show off their work, including Tiffe Fermaint and Envy by Khanh, along with six bands and 19 visual artists, including Hugo Medina and Angel Diaz. Get an eyeful of art at Venue Scottsdale on Friday. Doors to the 21-plus event open at 6 p.m. Admission is $7.

RAD Friday Nights @ Apollo's Lounge In search of a new Friday night pastime? Craig Citizen and company have a solution. It's RAD. It's at Apollo's Lounge. It starts at 9 p.m. on Fridays. There's no cover. There are DJs, drink specials, visual performances, and popcorn. There's just one question. How rad are you?

Arizona Matsuri 2013 @ Heritage Square For a heaping helping of Japanese culture, food, and fun, head to Matsuri. From 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday at Heritage Square, the festival will feature arts and crafts, demos, sushi, microbrews, bonsai displays, and a slew of performances. Admission is free.

Oscar Viewing Costume Party @ FilmBar When we catch ourselves idolizing the swanky starlets of Hollywood's golden age, we have to remind ourselves that those pin-curled babes dealt in as much drama (manufactured or otherwise) as today's Lindsays, Mileys, and Kardashians. They simply dressed better and didn't have the technology to embarass themselves with TwitPics of their tits.

With old-timey duds as inspiration, get dolled up or dapper and head to the classy, not assy, 2013 Oscar Viewing Costume Party Sunday, February 24, at FilmBar. They'll roll out the red carpet photo booth from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. After meeting your paparazzi quota, take a seat in the theater as the Academy Awards ceremony comes to the big screen.
