Support the independent voice of Phoenix and help keep the future of New Times free.
Scottsdale Fashion Week told Jackalope Ranch this morning that the annual "ultimate fashion celebration" slated for fall has been moved to spring 2012 because of public confusion between SFW and Phoenix Fashion Week.
"We'd like to re-vamp the entire event," says Angela Johnson
, Scottsdale Fashion Week board member and local designer. "And we need time to do that."
SFW recently inducted a new board of directors to ensure that the program moves in a "new and exciting direction."
Johnson says that from outside the Arizona fashion industry, it might be difficult to decipher SFW from Phoenix Fashion Week
(which recently revealed its 10 new emerging designers
) because each are called "fashion weeks."
But to the insiders, Johnson says the two are easily distinguishable because they cater to different crowds.
"Scottsdale is internationally recognized as a resort destination and is known for its luxury retail industry. Therefore, this is our target audience," Johnson says.
