This Friday, The Firehouse, one of downtown Phoenix's finer collective art spaces, is hosting one such benefit show. It is being put on by Rusty Spoke Community Bicycle Initiative and the Phoenix chapter of Food Not Bombs and it features Haunted Cologne, Andrew Jackson Jihad, The Haymarket Squares, Kirkwood Dellinger and Porches. A suggested donation is $5 (for 5 bands, pretty sweet) as well as any used bike parts and there will also be a raffle and vegan bake sale (also pretty sweet, if you ask me.)

Food Not Bombs is a an all-volunteer organization dedicated to nonviolent social change. It was started in Cambridge, Massachusetts in 1980 by an inspired group of anti-nuclear activists. The Phoenix Chapter meets at the Tempe Whole Foods to gather food at 10 AM and serves food at Patriot's Square by 3 PM. It's a pretty cool collective and a very noble effort by those involved, thus making Friday's show more relevant.

The Rusty Spoke Bicycle Community Bicycle Initiative is located at 915 N. 5th St. in Roosevelt Row in downtown Phoenix, located behind the Longhouse Gallery. It is a volunteer based organization dedicated to bicycle advocacy in the downtown Phoenix community. It offers an open space for DIY bicycle repair and bicycle parts recycling.

Friday night will be welcome to everyone who is willing to attend a night of good music for a good cause.
