Phoenix-based pop band French Quarter has a new record out, Desert Wasn't Welcome, and the band is heading out on tour to support it.

Recorded at Dub Narcotic Sound System in Olympia, Washington, home base for K Records, and finds the trio incorporating elements of dance, dub, and jazz into their sound.

The 23-date tour will take the band up the west coast, and to other corners of the Southwest.

The band's kickoff show tonight at The Trunk Space, with The Roar, Bad Weather California, and A Ghost is a Ghost (Ryan Nelson).

Drummer Chase Kamp, who helped assemble a few issues of the much loved Lorum Ipsom's Water Science zine, will be blogging for Up on the Sun from the road, so be on the look out for his missives and strange tales from the coast.
