Phoenix rappers Mr. Miranda and Random a.k.a Mega Ran proved to be a formidable tandem when they teamed up to form the powerful hip-hop duo, Mirandom late last year.
The two are currently working towards bringing new music regularly with weekly installments of Mirandom Mondays, and now fellow emcee Mighty Mouse Powell is joining in on the collab fun. Random and Mouse are hooking up to bring the Mega Mouse EP, and the three will be hitting the road for a west coast tour along with DJ DN3 starting at Club Red in Tempe on Wednesday, October 3.

Random: It's called the Campaign Tour, we just came up with that name, kind of in the spirit of election season.
I think it's great because it gives the West Coast an opportunity to hear what Arizona has to offer. When I talk to most people outside of Arizona, they don't assume that there are noteworthy acts in Phoenix. I always have to explain that there's a lot of talent out here. So I just want the rest of the country to see that.
Mouse Powell: The tour came about a few months back. We first started talking about it when we both opened the show for Phife Dawg. Ran and I started kicking around the idea. We've both been booked until about now; he just got off of a summer tour. His work ethic is crazy and mine is pretty crazy as well, so we had to squeeze it in.
We met up and we sat down and started mapping out where we wanted to get to and how we wanted to get back. It came together pretty easily.
Up on the Sun: Mr. Miranda, you're obviously used to working with Random through the Writer's Guild and your own collaboration, Mirandom, but this is the first time you're hitting the road with Mouse Powell. What are you looking forward to the most?
Mr. Miranda: I'm looking forward to it; it should be a great time and a great experience. It's going to give us a chance to see if there's any kind of chemistry as far as the three of us go.
How do you think you're sounds are going to compliment each other on stage?
Mouse Powell: It's all really genuine music. Random kind of brings an electronic feel to it, and I'm more based on soul records, so that compliments well. Stage presence is a huge factor for all of us. I think that's where we feel the most comfortable.
Mr. Miranda: It's going to be a unique style that you're going to see. There's still some versatility amongst the three of us as far as concepts go, but for the most part it isn't going to be something that's going to lose the crowd. It's going to be something that people can actually sit through and really enjoy. As far as the three of us go, we're all on the same page.
Mouse, what is it about Random and Mr. Miranda's sound that made you want to tour together?
Mouse Powell: They're both unique and they're both very much themselves. I'm a huge fan of people who can, like, be comfortable in their own skin, and they really exemplify that. It takes a fair amount of balls to be a nerd rapper like Random, and rap about video games and stuff. And he does it really well; the dudes mad talented. It's cool, it's different, it's refreshing.
What's the story behind the Random and Mouse Powell project?
Mouse Powell: It's called the Mega Mouse EP. It's just a little EP that we'll be putting out in time for the first show of the tour at Club Red. So far it's really dope. We've been trying to make each song different. So far we have b-boy, party-rock jam that's really uptempo, where we go back and forth trading bars; it's really quick and in your face. And then we have, like a real introspective, spiritual song where we both talk about our beliefs. It's really all over the map, but it's a fluid sound and has us both stepping out of our comfort zones which is really nice.
Random: I'm all about touring with a purpose. I feel like touring because we're good rappers is great, but I don't think that's enough. I like to add something that will be special to that tour, that won't be on another tour. So me and Mouse have been working around the clock to make something special.
