A few hours from now, the rest of the country is gonna get clued into what local music fans have known for years: KONGOS jams out some seriously fantastic rock 'n' roll.
That is, unless the ABC late-night talk show's titular host, a onetime Valley resident himself, decides to bump the band (a la Matt Damon), which we serious doubt, since KONGOS are white hot right now.
Last month, the Phoenix-by-way-of-South Africa rock quartet inked a deal with Epic Records and its track "Come With Me Now" is currently ninth on Billboard's alternative chart. It's been ranked in the Top 25 on iTunes Radio and also has been used in both an NBC Sports advertisement and as background music on The CW's supernatural drama The Originals.
So, in other words, it's a foregone conclusion that the song, the first single off the band's latest album, Lunatic, will be the one performed and broadcasted nationwide.
Be sure to set your DVRs to record what's likely to be a moment when one of Phoenix's biggest bands gets even bigger. Jimmy Kimmel Live! airs locally at 10:35 p.m. on KNVX Channel 15.
