Arty Girl: Argillaceous Art by Arizona Clay at West Valley Art Museum

Let's just get this part out of the way:

Not only do I feel smarter for knowing this fancy word, but, man, I am freakin' thrilled to discover that "clayey" is a real word. Clayey? Really?

Fun facts aside, the point of this blog is to pimp the latest show at West Valley Art Museum, running through April 12th.

"Argillaceous Art by Arizona Clay" is the fifth show of its kind at West Valley Art Museum. The biennial exhibitions have spanned ten years and this time around, celebrates 30 pieces by just the members of Arizona Clay.

As with many ceramic art shows these days (like this, this and this), the artists focus on using the medium in a non-functional way. Sure, you may see a couple functional items like this...

but it's pretty clear this thing isn't meant to hold Tostitos at a super bowl party, you know what I'm sayin'?
