It's logical for a band from the U.K. that's been compared to Coldplay and Snow Patrol and received more than a thousand spins for their first single on Sirius-XM's Alt Nation channel to move to the U.S. seeking stateside success. But Phoenix seems like an unlikely relocation choice compared with places like Los Angeles and New York City.

But apparently not to melodic rockers A Silent Film, who recently moved to the Valley from Oxford and will play a show at Martini Ranch in Scottsdale on Friday, July 1. And judging by the piano-driven gems on the band's debut album, The City That Sleeps, they're well worth checking out.

The City That Sleeps

was released in the U.K. in 2008, and is just now being issued stateside. But A Silent Film's first single, "You Will Leave a Mark," has already charted on Sirius-XM's Alt Nation channel and was featured as an iTunes Discovery Download, resulting in more than 200,000 downloads.

Check out the video for "You Will Leave a Mark" below, and check out A Silent Film at the Martini Ranch in Scottsdale on Friday, July 1. Boy Hits Car, and Soul Power are also on the bill.
